S&P Services
- Ship sales negotiations and contract consultancy work
- Ship closing and delivery assistance
- "Time contracts" - handling all aspects of the S&P transaction
by becoming an integral part of the client's in-house team
We see the urgent need of Shipowners, domestic KG Houses, Banks and Insolvency Administrators that do not have the in-house capacity and S&P competence to accept professional external expertise in the context of internal partners when it comes to the Sale & Purchase of Vessels. This is where we can step in.
The Sale of a ship is an extremely high risk/high value business where a lot of money is at stake. Accepting a badly worded contract clause can lead to very high financial losses and result in legal consequences, or the risk of renegotiations and a subsequent price reduction at time of delivery of the ship
Taking a partner with long term in-house broking experience on board who has been in charge of the full process up to the closing and physical delivery of the asset will prove beneficial and reduces multiple risks.
It may be common practise to hire a lawyer for this. Experience shows that lawyers begin to look at these issues extremely late in the process which stalls numerous pre-delivery activities.
We have successfully negotiated hundreds of S&P deals and personally acted as Attorney-in-fact on behalf of reputable international Shipowners in numerous closing meetings all over Europe, the USA as well as various Asian countries, handling the documentary closings and releasing payments for ships. This work included the responsibility to fully co-ordinate the necessary steps with the Owners' Financial, Legal, Operations, Shipmanagement and applicable Shipowners Departments.
Our experience in competitive and Owners' in-house work gives us the advantage that can make the difference between a satisfactory or an excellent deal. Our complete independence allows us to handle your S&P transactions to the degree you want us to become actively involved. This may be limited to the negotiation/drafting of the MOA but may also extend to a specified period of time that we work embedded in a clients' team.
